In response to the congestion and resultant safety issues during pick-up and drop-off, the Lamping PTA has formed the Safety Commitee. The Safety Committee monitors and implements procedures for safe arrival and departure in conjuncion with the school's Administration. Junior Safety Partrol Officers (JSPO)
The JSPO program operates under the guidelines set forth by AAA and is comprised of current Lamping 5th grade students. The JSPOs monitor and assist in the Kiss and Drop Zones and playground during the morning drop off and afternoon pick up times.
JSPOs patrol playgrounds and open car doors and help carry bags so parents can stay in their cars, facilitating in improved traffic flow. Please let your child know that if they need help and are unable to find a teacher or adult, that the JSPO are there to help.
Kiss and Drop Zones
Main Parking Lot. Speed limit is 5 mph. The parking lot is a Kiss and Drop Zone and is CLOSED from 8:30-9:10 am and from 3:00 to 3:20 pm.
Pick up and Drop Off: Three Kiss and Drop Zones have been designated. Please pull as far forward as possible to allow more cars in the zone. DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR in the Kiss and Drop Zones and DO NOT PARK during pick up and drop off times in the zones. JSPO, parents and staff members will be on hand to assist with younger students. Remain in your vehicle, allow your child to exit and keep moving.
Please note, U-TURNS ARE ILLEGAL IN A SCHOOL ZONE AND CAN BE TICKETED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
DROP-OFF PROCEDURES
- Youngest child in Kindergarten or First Grade: Please use the bus loading zone in front of the Kindergarten Gate on Summit Grove. When exiting this zone, YOU MUST TURN RIGHT. For safety reasons, left turns are not allowed during pick up and drop off times.
- Youngest child in Second or Third Grade: Please use Heaton Road. The yellow curb indicates the Kiss and Drop Zone. NO DOUBLE PARKING IS PERMITTED IN THIS AREA.
- Youngest child in Fourth or Fifth Grade: Please use Summit Grove on the street side. Please remind your students to use the crosswalks to enter the school grounds.
Pick-Up Prodedures
Parking is allowed in all but the bus loading zone on Summit Grove. Only busses are allowed in this area during pick-up.
Kindergarten Playground
After the 2nd week of school, parents are not allowed inside the Kindergarten playground. If you wish to observe your child, please walk around to the sidewalk area in the main parking lot, away from the Kiss and Drop Zones.
Some Nevada Traffic Laws
● No stopping or parking on crosswalks
● No parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk
● No backing up onto a crosswalk
● No parking on the sidewalks
● No parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant
● No parking in the fire lane
● The speed limit on ALL CCSD campuses is 5 mph
