Student Attire

Student Dress Code

Frank Lamping Elementary School will be implementing a mandatory Standard Student Attire policy for the 2020-2021 school year.
In order to implement a mandatory Standard Student Attire policy, a school must follow the guidelines of Regulation 5131. Under this regulation, at least 10% of the ballots mailed to the families that make up the population of the student body must be returned, and 55% of the votes returned must agree to implement the Standard Student Attire policy. Regulation 5131 was followed and families of Frank Lamping Elementary School voted to implement a mandatory Standard Student Attire policy. Information about Regulation 5131 can be found online at: http://ccsd.net/district/policies-regulations/pdf/5131_R.pdf.

A parent/guardian may apply for their child to be exempt from the Standard Student Attire policy in the following two instances:

1) When the parent/guardian can demonstrate a bona fide religious objection to wearing the Standard Student Attire;
2) When wearing Standard Student Attire is inappropriate due to a verified medical condition.
I encourage you to review and discuss the Standard Student Attire requirements below with your child. All Standard Student Attire violations will result in disciplinary action in alignment with Regulation 5131 and the school-based progressive discipline plan.

The basic colors of khaki, navy, and white will be required at all Standard Student Attire schools.  All items of clothing must be in solid colors only with no pattern, no words, and no brand logos. Frank Lamping Elementary School will have yellow as an optional color. No sequins, studs, sparkles, glitter, beads, rhinestones, embroidery, sparkle stitching, or other similar embellishments/accessories may be worn on clothing. Tights/leggings and tight/spandex exercise pants may only be worn under approved clothing (under skirts/skorts or jumpers/dresses) and may not be worn solely as outerwear. All types of sweatshirts are allowed (including non-hooded, pullover hoodies, and zippered sweatshirts), but all types must be in Standard Student Attire basic/optional solid colors at all times.

Under CCSD Regulation 5131, “the school logo may only include the school name and/or school mascot.  No other names or symbols related to school athletic teams, school clubs/activities, charitable organizations, or similar groups/organizations should be on the clothing.”  In addition, “colors and styles of outerwear, such as jackets and coats, are not required to meet the color/style specifications of Standard Student Attire.”

Other questions you may have can be answered by Robert Solomon, the Principal of Frank Lamping Elementary School. We appreciate parents’ support of this mandatory Standard Student Attire policy.
